Q. I want to use rechargeable batteries in my AA battery-powered glove or sock liners (the kind that has a Hi-Low slide switch on the battery pack). What are my choices?

A. You cannot use rechargeable NiMh or NiCd rechargeable batteries with this product as the batteries will be damaged by the battery pack. You CAN however, use rechargeable Nickel-Zinc batteries. You can purchase Nickel - Zinc AA batteries and chargers by clicking on this link. The best one-time use batteries for these products are Energizer Lithium e2 AA batteries which you can purchase by clicking on this link. You will need 6 batteries per use (3 each hand).

Q. My AA battery powered glove liners don’t seem to heat up or the light on the controller is flashing or goes out when I plug it in to the glove. Why?

A: Wait a few minutes to feel the warmth. The ActiVHeat glove liners produces a gentle warmth not a sudden burst of heat.

If you have the three heat level (RED, ORANGE , GREEN ) model, it is possible insufficient voltage is being provided to the microchip inside the controller. Some lower drain AA batteries cause this problem. Use high drain batteries (often used for digital cameras). Examples of high drain AA 1.5 V batteries include Energizer Ultimate Lithium. Preferably use high drain rechargeable Nickel Zinc batteries (and save buying lots of batteries). We do not suggest using NiCd batteries.

Q. How long does a rechargeable battery pack last?

A: One fully-charged ActiVHeat rechargeable battery pack lasts up to 5 hours on the LOW setting and up to 1.5 hours on the HIGH setting. Consider buying an additional rechargeable battery pack to extend total warming duration throughout cold days! It takes about 3 hours to charge up a flat battery pack.

Q. Where do I attach the battery pack?

A: Unzip the front of the garment until you see the horizontal lower pocket inside. Open the zipper all the way and feel down inside for the connector plug. Plug the connector plug into battery pack.

Q. Where do I attach the controller?

A: Unzip the front of the heated garment & locate the thin vertical pocket inside. Undo the button, open the zipper all the way and feel down inside for the connectors. Plug the controller into both these connectors.

Q. How do I adjust the heating level?

A: When the controller and battery pack are connected, press the button on the controller to adjust the heat level. Press once for HIGH level, press again to lower the heat as per the diagram below.

Q. What are the special care and washing instructions for the ActiVHeat garment?

A: The heated jackets and heated vests can be hand washed. Before washing, ensure you remove the controller & the battery pack and replace the attached cap on the garment connector located inside the controller pocket.

Q. Where do I get additional rechargeable battery packs?

A: Buy an extra rechargeable battery pack to extend total warming duration throughout cold days! An extra rechargeable battery pack and charger costs $75.00 (excluding shipping/handling).

Q. What is so special about the rechargeable battery packs?

A. The ActiVHeat rechargeable battery packs are quite unique in the field of heated apparel.

Q. What if my ActiVHeat garment doesn't get warm?

A. Follow the 4 steps below:

1. Wait a few minutes to feel the warmth. The ActiVHeat garment produces a gentle warmth not a sudden burst of heat.

2. Check the ActiVHeat garment plug is connected to the charged Battery Pack.

3. If you are using a rechargeable battery pack, ensure it is charged by plugging the rechargeable Battery Pack into the Charger in a wall outlet when the battery pack switch is in the “ON” position. If there is a red light on the Battery Pack, it needs charging. It is fully charged when a green light is on and the battery switch is “ON”.

4. Ensure BOTH the controller plug and socket are securely connected to the garment plug and socket. (If only the controller plug is connected, the controller light may illuminate but no power may be going to the heating elements in your garment.)
